Its that time of the year again!
The AGM of Scrabble South Africa will take place during the national
tournament in Cape town, on Saturday 28th April at 12.30pm.
The AGM of Scrabble Gauteng will take place during the Collins Cup at
Parktown Boys School , on Saturday 26th May at 12.30pm.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you have matters that you would
like to include on the agenda for either meeting.
I will be reporting back on progress with our NPO registrations. We will
need treasurer reports.
PLEASE NOTE: I will be resigning as Chairperson of both organisations.
Please consider standing for the position(s) yourself – or at least serving
on a committee. If not, please think about who might be a good person for
the posts – and persuade them to stand!
Well it’s a new year 2012 with many exciting international tournaments like the Malta Open, Igate, Las Vegas, King’s Cup, PANASA in Zambia all coming our way.
Spar Super Group has very kindly donated 10 x R500 food vouchers for the Gala Tournament on August 7th in Gauteng. I think this is a wonderful gesture on their part. This kind of sponsorship is precisely what Scrabble RSA needs.
Thus far the City of Cape Town has played a role in sponsoring the Collins Cup that was held in April this year and they are looking to get involved with the Western Cape Masters in November this year
Duncan’s performance was as follows (unfortunately Gerald had to withdraw at the 11th hour):
European Scrabble Open:
19/42 (won by Theresa Brousson)
Malta International Scrabble Tournament
30/36 (won by Helen Gipson of Scotland)
Duncan Keet and Gerald Davids will be playing in the international WESPA approved Malta tournament (x2) in May 2011.
One of Malta’s top players, Theresa Brousson will also be playing. Here is an interview with her during the super-strong 2010 Causeway Challenge (click on the image below.)
